The Meeting of Excellence for the Future of Energy
The third edition of Recanati Smart Land, a project that began in 2022, strongly desired by MAC and that was even more widely attended and enthusiastically embraced by all participants this year, has successfully concluded. The event held in Recanati on July 4th and 5th, addressed the topics of energy communities, building efficiency, Industry 5.0, electric mobility and network flexibility, their #integration and the “synergies” between different actors capable of bringing together different disciplines and cross-cutting skills. An event organized with the collaboration of the Municipality of Recanati, Energia Media and supported since its planning phase by the Marche Region (opening works chaired by Ass. Antonini), the Presidency of the Council (represented by Dir. Vetritto) and various sponsors and which also hosted an international special guest star, Professor J.Paradiso director of the Responsive Group of the MIT Media LAB. Process digitization, connectivity and real-time data management of energy production and consumption as catalyst pillars of change,” capable of enabling citizens, businesses and institutions to be able to take timely action for energy optimization. KEY TOPICS FOR THE COMING 2024 EDITION
BUILDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Cantagallo from Enea opened the proceedings by providing a legislative overview of building energy efficiency and the new European #directive EPBD IV. Regarding the latter, Barocci from Marini Impianti highlighted the importance, of a renovation passport that is not only energy-efficient, but also “structural” and that keeps track, for buildings, of major renovations as well. Vicini from Harley & Dikkinson, Bassetti from Perry and Cavalieri from MAC presented a new way of “measuring building efficiency” with connected devices that can be financed through the energy savings achieved and certified by the devices.
ECONOMIC, INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY
Ruscio from the GSE and Sofia from the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy kicked off the introductory panel discussion on the sustainability of industrial development in which Confindustria also participated. Bartoli from DominaSpA shared the vision, sustainable strategy and actions introduced by the Volkswagen group for electric mobility. Mauri from RSE together with EnelX opened a window on the latest developments in electric mobility, which is increasingly able to adapt to the need for grid flexibility thanks to the Demand Response capability of charging stations.
RENEWABLE ENERGY COMMUNITIES
The relationship between public and private in energy communities was addressed by companies (Simbiosi), by ENEA with the technical roundtable with regions and by the GSE (Forte). Brugnach from Italia Solare shone a spotlight on the opportunities offered by capital grants from the PNRR for the construction of new installations for Renewable Energy Communities. Maps, Regalgrid, Western Engineering, Higeco and Ecocirioni shared a series of concrete case studies for Renewable Energy Communities. Continuous improvement of services and quality of distribution networks was the topic addressed by Confindustria Energia Adriatica, which presented the agreement with e-distribuzione for the quality of electric service. The synergy between technology, the economic sphere and operations was the theme at the center of A2A's innovative approach in the territories that highlighted the benefits of project financing for public administration and the community across the entire supply chain (energy efficiency, public lighting, electric mobility and smart cities) Fiorelli from ST Microlectronics and Drago from Meters&More addressed grid flexibility and the benefits offered by the Chain2 protocol. Also focusing on grid flexibility, with a focus on the Rome area, were the BeFlexible and RomeFlex projects presented by Fedele from Areti.
INNOVATIVE NETWORKS FOR SMART TERRITORIES
The impact of digitization on Territorial Infrastructures was the focus of the panel discussion involving Confservizi Marche and Acquanexa with Algebris fund, among others. The panel dedicated to the role of Renewable Energy Communities in the Marche Region, which involved Sbriscia and Grassi from Regione Marche and Guzzini from MAC, enabled a spotlight to shine on the energy demands of the Marche area and on possible initiatives (Repower Marche) to increase installed power from renewables without land consumption and ensuring benefits for the whole community. Romano from Enea testified to the benefits offered by near-real-time measurement devices within the Energy Community of Anguillara. Vodafone highlighted the role of the mobile network, such as 5G or LPWan, as an indispensable tool to connect territories while Alperia shared its commitment to sustainability through the widespread use of renewables and #customer centricity. Carnevale from Softlab closed the speeches by highlighting how the conscious use of energy, now increasingly a reality thanks to IoT and data analytics with the support of AI, can enable a new sustainable approach globally.
