IT’S NOW POSSIBLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE 2ND GENERATION OPEN METER THROUGH C2G

On December 31^st e-distribuzione concluded the required integration test and the residential test phase via PLC-C (Chain2) between the new Open Meter and user devices. ARERA, the Italian regulatory authority for energy, networks and the environment, requested the tests in order to approve the activation of the second generation of e-distribuzione’s Smart Meter (2G). Those who are interested in activating communication with the Open Meter using the Chain2 technology, must subscribe to a specific contract and need to obtain a user device. As a result, MAC has created Chain2Gate, a smart device that has already participated in the test phase, obtaining 99,8% reliability in terms of communication in Chain2. MAC’s Chain2Gate is a Plug&play device that you can connect to any domestic electric socket. The interface is extremely intuitive: a visual LED indicator shows the status of consumption, equipped with an acoustic signal to warn the user in advance of any imminent blackout. Through the APP, the user can constantly monitor, manage and plan energy consumption throughout the day.     MAC is working on an advanced version of the existing device which will take into consideration all the case studies, the Data Model and the relative protocol defined by CEI, integrating Chain2Gate with further functions to increase energy awareness.
